"Sometimes, the final puzzle unlocks the door to a lifetime together."
There is something undeniably magical about September. The summer warmth lingers in the air, but autumn slowly begins to paint the world in softer tones. It is a month of transitions, of cozy evenings, and of romance. Last year, around this same time, we shared a blog post about how an escape room could be the perfect place for a marriage proposal. We imagined the excitement of solving puzzles, unlocking secrets, and then—at the final moment—unveiling the biggest surprise of all: the question, “Will you marry me?”
Just a few days ago, we had the incredible honor of seeing this idea come to life.
A young couple joined us for an evening of mystery and adventure. From the outside, it looked like just another game, filled with locks, riddles, and laughter. But hidden in the storyline was a plan only one of them knew about. As the team worked their way through puzzles, the anticipation built. Finally, at the very end, the young woman opened the final box—expecting another clue. Instead, she discovered a handwritten note from her boyfriend asking her to marry him.
For a moment, the room froze. Then came the tears, the gasps, the joy. And most importantly, her answer: “Yes!”
What made the moment even more special was the way it blended seamlessly into the escape room experience. The proposal wasn’t just an isolated surprise—it was the grand finale of their shared adventure, the ultimate solution to the “puzzle” of the evening.
September, with its golden sunsets and promise of new beginnings, couldn’t have been a more fitting backdrop. Love stories often unfold in unexpected places, but this one reminded us how an escape room is more than just a game—it’s a space for unforgettable memories, for laughter, for teamwork, and sometimes, for the start of forever.
We wish the happy couple endless joy, and we’re grateful to have been part of such a beautiful milestone in their journey.
After all, as September teaches us, every ending is really a new beginning. And sometimes, the final puzzle unlocks the door to a lifetime together.
At the heart of Gateway Mall in Lincoln, Escape de Facto continues to create unforgettable memories with its two signature games, “House of Things” and “Puppeteer.” And with preparations underway for the brand-new experience “Silent Floor”—set to launch in the new year—we are more committed than ever to offering adventures that blend mystery, teamwork, and a touch of magic.
